This crochet butterfly craft project is so fast and easy you'll be making dozens of winged critters before you know it. Use these by themselves with or without a magnet or decorate other projects with them.

Materials

scrap yarn
size "G" crochet hook
small magnet (optional)

Instructions

Body

Chain 8. Join to form a ring.

Row 1 - Working in the ring... Ch 3, 2 dc. *Ch 3, 3 dc. Repeat from * 5 times. Chain 3. Join with sl st at the top of beginning ch 3. (8 ch-3 spaces)

Row 2 - Sl st to 1st ch-3 space. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, in same space. *3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space. Repeat from * all the way around. Join with sl st at the top of beginning ch 3.

Row 3 - Sl st to first ch-3 space. *10 dc in same space. Make 1 sc in between the next 6 dc of previous row (5 sc). Repeat from * all the way around. Join at base of first dc and fasten off.

Fold butterfly in half and sew together.

Antenna

Double a length of contrasting color yarn and chain 12. Fasten off. Fold in half and attach it to the "head" of the butterfly.
