Classic Crochet Christmas Stocking

This crochet Christmas stocking is made by simply working continuously, one round after the next. It's fairly easy to make so you'll probably want to create several using different color combinations.

Finished size measures 15-1/2" tall.

Materials

• yarn (red, white)
• crochet hooks, sizes G and H
• yarn needle

 

 

Instructions

Do not turn piece. Work all rounds continuously without turning.

With size H crochet hook and red yarn, chain 34. Sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.

Rounds 1 thru 6 - Switch to size G crochet hook Sc in each ch (34 stitches).

Rounds 7 thru 40 - With white yarn, sc evenly (34 stitches each round).

Round 41 - Sc in next 7 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 15 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 8 sc.

Round 42 - Sc in next 8 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 17 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 9 sc.

Round 43 - Sc in next 9 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 19 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 10 sc.

Round 44 - Sc in next 10 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 21 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (draw loop through 1 stitch, draw look through next stitch, yarn over and draw yarn through all three loops on hook). Sc in next 11 sc.

Round 45 - Sc in next 11 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 34 sc.

Round 46 - Sc in next 12 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 24 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together. Sc in next 9 sc.

Round 47 - Sc in next 13 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 24 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together. Sc in next 9 sc.

Round 48 - Sc in next 14 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 25 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together. Sc in next 8 sc.

Round 49 - Sc in next 15 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 24 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (2 times). Sc in next 7 sc.

Round 50 - Sc in next 16 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc in next 25 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (2 times). Sc in next 5 sc.

Round 51 - Sc in next 43 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (3 times). Picking up stitches from both sides, "sew" the two sides of the heel together with sc, sc, and sl st in next 3 stitches (see pictures below - red yarn marks beginning and end of rounds).

Round 52 - Sl st in next sc (starter sl st). Sc in next 38 sc. Sl st in next sc. Sl st in starter sl st.

Round 53 - Sl st in next sc. Sc in next 37 sc. Skip next sl st. Sc in next sl st. Skip next sl st. Sc in next st.

Round 54 - Sc in next 17 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Sc in next 17 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (2 times).

Round 55 - Sc in next 17 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Sc in next 18 sc.

Round 56 - Sc in next 17 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (2 times). Sc in next 16 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together.

Round 57 - Sc in next 15 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (2 times). Sc in next 15 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together.

Round 58 - Sc in next 12 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (3 times). Sc in next 12 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (2 times).

Round 59 - Sc in next 9 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (3 times). Sc in next 8 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (3 times).

Round 60 - Sc in next 5 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (3 times). Sc in next 4 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (5 times).

Round 61 - Sc in next 2 sc. Sc next 2 stitches together (3 times). Picking up stitches from both sides, "sew" the two sides together with sl st in each of next 2 stitches.

Fasten off. Weave in yarn ends.
